An update on this: I receved this email 03/04/3014 as a reply to my email to sp-support@omniture.com which are owned by Adobe.

"Thank you for your inquiry regarding the Atomz Search offering. Unfortunately this service has been retired, and will no longer be available beginning on 3/31/14.
The deadline for this offering was originally set for 12/21/13, and was extended twice, once until 2/1/14, and again until 3/31/14, but we will be unable to extend the service any further. We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused you and your site.

Does anyone have a suggestion of a replacement?

My wife and sis-in-law both worked there for many years until Adobe bought them and it's gone.

I think it's insane to shut something down that made money and didn't require a lot of effort to keep running but what do I know?

Wish they'd have given it to me! :)

FYI - it looks like the search sites are still working, just the website is gone.

I've had Atomz for 10+ years on two sites... it is still working, but I can no longer update my profiles/search criteria. I suspect they will keep it running for a bit longer as (as we all know) any search queries are food and fodder for the data slurping folks. :)

How long it lasts... don't know.

As for replacements... Atmoz was marketed as a search your own site (quick clean lean machine). There are Perl and PHP site installable alternatives out there. Just look for them. Also know that a properly indexed site will need a chunk of storage to maintain the indexes and results... usually equal to, or slightly larger than the website it self (text portions, you don't index image bits).

Site search has great value IF, your site is complex and detailed or you simply wish to make sure that the search box keeps visitors ON YOUR SITE for a bit longer.

I used Atomz for the former reason (complex and detailed) where I could define and refine the search queries for best results accumulated over months, and eventually years!, of searches. It was, as said, a quick clean lean machine.

It was only last month, I signed up for a new account, no mention of retiring it then.

I too wonder why adobe would close it down do the offer an alternative? Can anyone any statement from them?

What other options do we have.. I guess it is google custom search then.

Okay... now Atmoz is dead for me. (sigh)

Time to either install my own internal site SERP or rely on site: in Bing or Google or Yahoo!
