Ebay to leave Commission Junction, Forms own Partner Network

eBay's new global affiliate platform: the eBay Partner Network

We are excited to announce eBays new global affiliate platform: the eBay Partner Network.
The new platform will go live on April 1st, 2008 PST, at which point eBay will no longer be running its affiliate program through Commission Junction. Beginning April 1st, affiliates should register with eBay Partner Network and migrate their links from CJ to the new platform.

I think everyone saw this coming ever since eBay changed over to their 'rover' link system. It's a BIG loss for CJ/ValueClick.

They are paying out an extra 5% to everyone who switches their links over fast in April.

I may actually try eBay out now. In the past I wouldn't touch CJ with 50 foot pole... ;-)

I don't know about CJ but I wasn't too impressed with ebay's payout..and I wouldn't touch this with a ten foot pole if with the change.

I'm still trying to register for this new EPN (as an existing CJ/ebay user), all it does is time out for me whenever I try to apply, all v frustrating!

I got signed up OK but now I'm thinking I might have signed up as a new user. Oh well.

I've decided to wait for a while until they get things going smoothly and hopefully have some better tools. So for now I've removed my EBay ads.

Luckily EBay was a small part of my income though antiques fit perfectly into my topic so there is potential. They just need better ways of presenting current auctions.

I've signed up [I think everyone signs up as a new user to the eBay partner network] and transfered everything over from cj to the new system and everything is going smoothly.

They have some good tools, Anne, look into rss feeds for antiques that fit into your topic as well as being able to control the ways of presenting current auctions.

Glad they are breaking out on their own.....I was never happy with CJ's way of dealing with publishers so dropped them aeons ago.

After two days I finally managed to sign up, using the same id as I used on CJ. I can negotiate most of the EPN site, unless I want to go somewhere near the Tools section to generate links, in which case it just hangs. After several days of trying, both in daytime and in the middle of the night, the Tools sections refuse to load up. Dismal

Thats odd DoU! There are some notes about them speeding up the interface (I guess its agony for anyone on dialup) soon.

Essentially you need two parts. Make a feed....

[pages.ebay.com...]

Then you need something to display the feed on your site. Something like simplepie or magpie.

This would be the 'free' way to do things. There are programs as well (not to be listed here, to keep with the WW TOS), but you could shoot me a PM.
