LinkedIn has said it'll deprecate its Groups API from July 2017.

This means that anyone posting to groups from any other system outside LinkedIn will no longer be able to do so, affecting tools such as hootsuite, or any other system using the Groups API.

Clearly, LinkedIn wants all site activity posted directly from its own system.

I tried a few services to post to Groups, but never found one that worked consistently. LinkedIn didn't seem to support that well in my experience. I wonder if that was a factor. Posting to profiles or Company pages seems much more consistent.

I am confused about LinkedIn's policy for its groups anyhow.

You used I think to be able to search groups from the main LinkedIn interface, Now I can't see how one does that.

Plus many of the groups, that might have been of interest to me, are just dumping grounds for people's press releases rather than conversations of any value.

I used to think that the LinkedIn groups could benefit building your professional identity by giving your insights on a certain topic. I really don't understand the LinkedIn's policy anymore, and sincerely, maybe it's for the better, since those groups started to look a lot like Facebook.
