Anybody shed some light on why they would suggest this?
I’m glad you asked the question about bids for Content Match ads. I think there has been a misunderstanding. The only time we recommend an advertiser start their Content Match bids at $0.10 is if they are new to our system and are just setting up their campaign. After testing and learning, new advertisers are encouraged to increase Content Match bids to a level that has the right ROI and volume of leads.
We do not suggest that all advertisers change their bid to $0.10.
If you have any other specific questions, please feel free to send me a private email.
Thanks,
YahooSarah
I was just calling in to get an expedited review of some new ad groups, and the lady I spoke with told me that they were suggesting to EVERY advertiser that they drop content bids to $0.10.
Looks like somebody at Yahoo has their signals crossed, but what else is new?
Honestly, with the low quality of traffic that Yahoo's content match delivers lately, the only way I can get a decent ROI is to drop them that low anyway. My conversion rate has dropped from 35% to around 6% in the last two months on Yahoo, and I'm pretty sure I'm not alone.
I think it's obvious that YSM is going the way of the dodo, and Adcenter will take its place in our repertoires.. Too bad, I could use the extra traffic, but not at those prices...
We tried that... same lousy ROI but saves money. Yahoo doesn't even matter to our bottom line anymore in any significant way and we are a company that pays them over 8 grand a month... but not for much longer.
Accidently we were offline for three days and guess what... sales didn't drop ..in fact they increased (seasonal I know) so it goes to show you that they and their cheap imitiation fraudulent creepy crawley so called partners are totally useless.
Once we move more money into Google and migrate to MSN...Yahoo will be total history.
In the meantime, we will be turning down all our keywords for high profile terms down to 0.10 or pause.
Yahoo, you finally did it... anyone would be crazy to stay with you guys and just shovel the money out the window. As for your new release...once we are gone it's going to be hard to get us back but you can start by getting rid of those low quality so called partner sites who are cheating you and your customers blind.
If in the new release I see that we still have to contend with these 'partner' sites I won't be coming back.
I'll be wathching their stock... I have a feeling it might be a good time for a 'put' (downward) buy.
Wasn't there a thread in this forum on Yahoo's dubious search partners? It was webmasterworld members complaining about the YSM search network, not content network. Yes, there was! It was the biggest thread here recently.
And now that thread is gone! Strange. Maybe this thread will mysteriously disappear, too.
I don't know if these suggestions are getting around, but today I'm noticed that all of my competition have lowered their bids drastically. What is goin on?
Yahoo.com can still deliver but you will need to pay for 9 clicks from the "partners" to get 1 Yahoo click. Could get expensive so lowering the bid price might work

Instead I get clicks from a bunch of jerky, no-sense partner sites I never heard of, and I bet no one else has either. And I bet no one uses them. It's all fraud. On one day, almost 1/5 the clicks came from a porn site. No one in their right mind goes to a porn site to search for my products. The whole scenario for one week, made no sense. So I wrote OV and said pretty much the above, and provided the stats from my logs. Their answer was the usual, ho hum, we don't believe you, trust us, trust our rigorous screening of our partner sites, and our click fraud protection safeguards.
BS... if you ask me. I quit them, and I have been a customer since long before they were OV.
