I've been back with adsense entirely for months now. I used to keep just a few pages with YPN to sort of monitor the progress but I don't even do that anymore.
Oh well.
I switched back and forth a lot between adsense and YPN. Google would tank for a month and I'd get disgusted and switch everything over to YPN. I'd always leave a few pages up with the other though. 90% YPN and 10% adsense or vice versa. Whoever had the 10%, if I started seeing better results I'd go back 90% to them.
It got so old though. All this constant switching back and forth and having to monitor everything so closely on an almost day to day basis. I mean I want something I can just stick in there and ignore and not have to always be worried that I'm losing money with my real estate.
I know what I'm getting with adsense. I'm getting screwed but at least it's consistent. With YPN I never had a clue what I'd be getting.
wyweb, you don’t want to monitor anything and still make money --- well I wonder how many of us have actually succeeded..
My advice -- keep working hard, and harder when your earnings drop!
However, recently YPN called and emailed me regarding deciding to suddenly revoke my right to use Ad Targeting for difficult to understand reasons about traffic quality. It's tough to understand because it seems most unlikely ad targeting quality could be any better without my assistance.
I am quite confused over this. The only conclusion I can arrive at is YPN possibly running out of inventory in some good categories and thus could not offer ads in that catgeory because I had Ad Targeting enabled requiring the well targeted ads. I did notice in the past some ad units had room for 4 ot 5 ads but only 1 or 2 ads appeared. Can anyone think of other possible reasons for this?
If they were let people like me in a while back ago, then maybe they are the one that save Yahoo.
Yahoo should wake up and start learning from its lessons.
Very stupid about the way they do business. I was a royal user and customer. Registered over 100 domains at Y for over 5 years. When I registered it was $1.99, $5.99 and $9.99. Which is reasonable.
Then all the sudden, they raised $12.99 then now I got a letter that they will raise it to $34.95. What a biggest rip off. No justify and dignity. And the thing is they still lure innocent new buyer with a $1.99/year ads.

I just can't believe why Y do this to me and alot of its royal customers and they don't realize that I have a choice to go to Godaddy or Enom.
They're repeating the mistake that LookSmart did awhile back and this is the quick way to sink a great ship.
"I need to update my original post to say that we took YPN code off of most of our pages except for a few, and, of course, as soon as we did, the YPN epc on those pages went through the roof. Arrgh. We'll wait a bit to see how things progress but we may have to switch back to YPN."
Yahoo is probably not playing games. I work for a publisher ad serving company. This behavior is explicable:
Each ad network e.g. AdSense or YPN or Casale represent a sales team (or online self service sales interface). The "sales team" closes some high paying advertisers and many low paying advertisers.
If you give a network just a few impressions per unique user, then that network will only show the high paying ads- and eCPM you get will be high. BUT if you give it more impressions per unique user then that network will also show low paying advertisers and your eCPM will fall.
Key to success is to use an ad server (disclosure: I work for an ad serving company) to sequence all ad networks PER USER. EACH USER should be shown e.g. 2 ads from YPN, then 2 ads from Casale, then 2 ads from Blue Lithium, then 2 ads from Ad Sense. This is vital to maximize revenue for sites where each user is seeing many impressions per day.
