I have been using Malwarebytes (free) and its decision time on paying for it.
Who uses what kind of anti-malware software? Very interested to read recommendations.
thanks!

Use linux such a ubuntu, debian, Arch, etc, and get off Windows. Then you do not need anti-virus running. I'm assuming this is for a desktop/server setup? It will be initially harder to use, but you do get used to it.
There are too many ways to hack into Windows systems. I have downloaded hacking tools and tried hacking into Windows and linux systems. There is no doubt a huge number of possible Windows vulnerabilities while there are very few ones for linux. Linux is much more secure.
I do use malwarebytes for those personal Windows systems where people do not want to move to linux and have downloaded viruses. Anti-virus can also severely slow down older computers.

Yeah its for a laptop running Windows. Its my daily "business" PC.
So you are against Malware bytes? Any alternatives you can recommend?

I use malwarebytes when cleaning Windows systems for others. My recommendation is to install Ubuntu in a dual boot configuration. When you boot you will get a choice of Windows or Ubuntu. I recommend using Ubuntu for daily computing as its security is robust and requires no anti-virus software.

I've been using ESET for a long time now, and I like the way it's really lightweight and non-intrusive. I dislike all those services that seem to want to tell you with a pop-up that it's updates something, and it's scanned this, and it's thinking about having a cup of coffee. I don't need to know, just do it!
