Greeting and gidday from Downunder folks,

Hope this is the correct forum for this question. (Mod/s please move if it should go elsewhere.)

I finally installed a cookie and privacy compliance banner, having snagged a sweet LTD via AppSumo.

I'm now checking status and details of all the cookies, and found one that's VERY suspect. >> jcsuuid, which is apparently generated by a dodgy DN, and refers to a statistics app using the tag.

I've never heard of it before, and have never installed it on my web site.

I've done a basic source code search of my site pages including js and css files, but nothing shows up.

How can I double check this on my server, track it down and remove it?

Thanks in advance
Jo-Ann Palmer

If you can check the live headers while your site loads you should see what is related to the cookie in question.

Not all cookies are evil spies, some of them are generated so that when you log in at your bank (for example) they can verify that you are a known client. The "uuid" part of the cookie name usually indicates a Unique User ID and if you delete useful cookies you may have trouble using the site that generated that cookie.

Most browsers today offer protection against unwanted tracking, you can click the little "shield" in the address bar to learn more.
