After Google, fined 50 millions euros last january , the French CNIL fined a second company, 400.000 €
The French watchdog, known as the CNIL, said today that it fined SERGIC on 28 May following an investigation into a 2018 data breach. It found that the company had committed two breaches of the GDPR by failing to stop users’ private documents being publicly accessed.

the agency originally suggested a fine of €900,000”

In Germany, one watchdog fined [a company] €20,000 for circumstances like this so the gap between the CNIL’s fines and other countries is becoming systemic.

Interesting, thanks for posting this Dimitri. I should know what the UK's ICO is doing but I haven't been keeping an eye on them.

They have a program ... it takes a bit for it to get started, but once in motion the ka-ching (knocks) will accelerate. There's two sides to GDPR ... the first is protecting users ... the second is a cash machine to keep the bureaucracy funded. I suspect that fines will become more "routine" in the next few months.
