I am renting a linux server from an ISP and, over the past 2 years, have become increasingly unhappy with the price-vs.-performance of my server package. I pay $150/month plus another $50/month for extras which are now given away free with new server packages equivalent to mine. I am expected to pay this price forever, and they have no program that allows me to either buy the server, or for its monthly rental price to drop over time, along with the server's value. Is it unreasonable for me to be unhappy paying extra each month for a larger hard drive, Plesk, and 1 Gig memory upgrade, when I know that new, equivalent server packages from this same ISP now include these items for free ($150/mo includes them all, plus more)?

I have started complaining about it and asking that the $50/mo for the extra upgrades be dropped from my bill, but so far they have refused. The only remedy they offer is for me to move my application to a new server (a lot of work), after which, I believe, they will rent my current server as a "value server" for a much lower price/month! Hopefully some ISPs are starting to realize that this will become more and more of a problem for their customers as time goes by, but so far mine isn't one of them.

I'd appreciate any advice on how I should deal with this. Thanks.
