How do you handle prospects that have unresponsive sites and say "It works on my phone, I'm looking at it now" even though, it's totally broken, failing G responsive test and also failing visual clues?

These are well researched leads, and client on the phone (cold call) answer is receptive. So I can get to dialogue stage.

But I can't start arguing with them their site is screwed...so how do I prove it to them without sounding confrontational?

The plan is not to hang up and move on to the next call, these customers are receptive, I only need a way to positively overcome the objection...

Set up a responsive test site and show them its functionality. If they cannot tell the difference then they have no hope.

You may buy near any pair pants you wish and add suspenders, but how is the fit? Some people don't mind "good enough".

Maybe the site is not central to the prospect's business model. I'm sure lots of people go to Home Despot to buy 2x4's or roofing nails without ever visiting their website. Heck, I can't even go to McDonald's website and get a look at a complete menu with prices. Ever go to the website of your local grocery store? And if the prospect's site is working on their phone - why is it if the site is broken?

Good points, but the "working on their phone" is wrong, it doesn't work on their phone, doesn't display properly.

Non educated clients don't even know what responsive is supposed to look like...

Also, those pants are fine for around the house, but if you want to be seen as smart you need to have the correct pair of pants.

Show them the result of Google's responsive test.

Hi Oimachi2 I agree you don't want to argue with the prospect, but is there a way of putting a simple test, I don't know how disabled the mobile view is, but say on a desktop you can go straight from the homepage to deep page 2 - but you can't do that on mobile. How about asking the question, on desktop I can go from A to B but I can't see how to do it on mobile?

You are asking to benefit from their experience, and I hope they would not be too disappointed if they can't make the jump themselves.

Send them the link to the results of a Google mobile friendly test and let them see the errors listed. Perhaps they will accept it more from Google than you as the developer. It is possible they think you are just trying to generate business.

Yes, that would work, I think cold calling is not effective, because I can't "talk" the image...do you think it's still possible to have sucess with cold emails in 2019 if well crafted?

I might send an email with the G test, but I would follow up with a call which would then be a warm call, not a cold one.
