Analytics on Infinite Scroll

I'm transitioning a section of my site that is currently paginated to use infinite scroll. I know people have mixed emotions on infinite scroll, so for now I'm giving the user the ability to turn it on or off, and I'll use that to gauge popularity.

But for you guys that use it, how do you handle Analytics? On paper it's going to look like the pageviews on this section are going to be cut by 75% or more, when in fact people "should" be looking at MORE pages, not less.

Since I sell local ads and use traffic as a selling point, I'm concerned with having false numbers that make it look like the site's traffic has dropped. Can I move the Analytics code to be in the body of the fragment that's copied to get a more accurate count?

If that's what happens, it's only a number.

If you share some type of stat utility with your prospective advertiser, then I agree, the infinite scroll may not be a good thing.

No doubt, people are impressed by numbers. That was a factor in my decision to break up several larger pages into additional smaller pages.
