Why does site rank much better in Google than Bing?

page rank discrepancies

For years, my site (...) has tended to rank well in Google search but poorly in Bing search. For example, a search with the keywords "silly" and "widget" yields my Silly Widget Questions as the top result on Google, but I'm towards the bottom of the third page of results with Bing. I've done the basics as far as carefully constructed page titles, descriptions, and keywords. Any suggestions will be appreciated.

Hi pfeldman and welcome to WebmasterWorld [webmasterworld.com]

Different algorithms. Each handles specific page factors differently. Each handles search queries differently. It's always a balancing act to do well in both. One thing that will always work for both Google & Bing is rich, topic specific content.

I've noticed that Bing gives a slight edge in things like age and authority, particularly in crowded niches, but there are great discrepancies between b and g for any thing OTHER than BRAND. Brand takes precedence over age and authority.

There's also a difference between users of b and g. b tends to be more mature and conservative and g younger and more liberal.
