Live HTTP Headers for Chrome hacked

I was having some issues and went to disable some extensions and noticed Live HTTP Headers was flagged as malware. Basically, it is now injecting ads. When you click to remove it, it gets you one last time by taking you to an ad page.

If you go to the download page on Google Play, it is now 404
[chrome.google.com...]

This is actually old news - was posted to Reddit, the Avast forums, various blog posts back in November, but I just rand across it myself today

New biz model... find some extension that's vulnerable to a buy-out, then turn it in into a spam machine since it's on thousands/millions of browsers.

I use less add-ons & extensions that I once did. A lot of them die or just start to cause problems as browsers evolve.
