At the moment we are very google dependent and spending an arm and a leg on adwords with G.

I would prefer that we got a lot more traffic from other locations but at the moment our incomings from Yahoo and Bing are very small beer indeed.

So we have some ideas what it takes to rank with google and we use adwords where we cannot rank in natural listings.

Which other SE would you recommend we focus on first for some non G traffic?

I think you may have already answered your own question in terms of SEs. I don't think there are any hidden SEs out there that will bring more traffic than the current #2 & #3.

I'm with you Mark. Twitter, it takes time to build a following, much more time than it does to achieve solid rankings.

I'd also add a mailing list, capturing leads who are opting in to be sent offers and updates can be extremely effective on many subjects.

Google, Twitter, Mailing list. I wouldn't worry so much about Facebook because a page can be created quickly and search will bring visitors to it. That doesn't happen with Twitter and email.

Now if only I could find a quality opt in email service to handle the process that doesn't charge a fortune for each new subscriber after your list grows past a rather small limit.
