My client's site is showing in Yahoo.co.uk SERPs as having a Russian (or some similar language) title tag. I have no idea how this can have happenened. The URL leads directly to the client's site. The client sells insurance policies online, so there is a potential for Phishing which is making me concerned. Can anyone shed some light on this?
thanks

Has the client's site been compromised? Any changes to the source code?

You might want to run the URL through a translation tool. Granted that it's a minimal check-up, but I've found some things that way.

thanks for the replies - as far as i can see the source code is ok, I'll try a translation tool and let you know. Any other ideas welcomed. thanks

I just put the title tag into Google and it came up with another site complete with a malware warning. So does this mean the source code has been compromised in some way? thanks

If it's indexed in Yahoo that way then it does sound like something has been compromised.

Is it possible that cloaking is in use? Perhaps you should try viewing the site using a search-engine user-agent. I'm not sure how you go about this these days because most browsers don't seem to let you edit the user-agent string.
There are three useragent values in Firefox about:config but you don't have full control. However, there's probably an extension that allows browsing as a search engine.
