Hi

I wasn't able to find recents post covering the following question:

We have a bunch of web apps already running or in planning. To market the applications we think of a one-brand strategy. Not only that we can save money by this but mainly to use marketing synergies.

All the apps serve more or less a single industry. So a visitor interested in app A might very likely also be interested in app B and app C.

My question now is, if it's wiser to built a portal with all the apps (like Yahoo - one big entry page with all the apps promoted on the entry page) or run them as single applications (like Google does it - many different apps with entry sites that don't look similar to each other)?

The whole project is financed through advertisment and paid services. Users are supplied through different channels with information (website, newsletter, rss, perhaps even some yearbook of the directory part).

Looking foward to hear your thoughts and experiences.

Hard to say unless you get more specific, but given the the apps are related then you should decide whether some could be used as loss-leader freebies (or some version of the apps) to act as link bait to bring visitors for the paid services.

See spyfu or dnsstuff.
