I just wondered how many are getting lazy in regards to their sites?
I've been selling informational products since 1997 online and have gone through all the stuff we all had to back in the day, developing links, getting listed on all the main search engines, tracking search terms etc. It used to be all very exciting, but now I find I'm loosing enthusiasm for keeping up with new developments, EG. I checked some of my pages the other day that hadn't been updated since 2002!
I'm beginning to feel like the internet is no longer like "Deadwood", the big mining companies have kicked out all the prospectors and the temperance people have shut down the saloons ;~)Anyone got some advice for an oldtimer on how to get back on their mule and pan some new streams?

Start by getting a new mule, 2.0 style.
A new name, a new site, new competition to research. Use popular open source software to run the site but customize it, a lot, and then get plugging away based on what your research says you should.
A word of warning, those 2.0 style mules fart a lot when young, and they live for 40 years, so if you can't stomach the smell and don't have decades to dedicate to it... start a support site instead.
Let the other sites fight for top spot in any field, you supply them with articles or templates or knowledge or whatever else those clydesdale mules eat. Before long you'll find new steam for existing projects, 'yer mules be growin boy!'. Oh and get analytics software, seeing results real time helps.
Have fun and keep it light.

Take up a new hobby or sport, you need to get a new perspective on life!
Most of us spend way too much time chair bound in front of our computers.
Its enough to stifle any enthusiasm we have for our sites.
After you do the above come back to your site and tear it apart and put it back
together again. New home page, new graphics and new content, new ads etc, etc.
If you have a site with a good age, links and traffic, you have a valuable asset. Don't waste it!...KF
