A health food store owner can deduce that many of his/her customers would appreciate a customized vitamin dispenser, yet a design firm that isn't industry-specific can't necessarily establish a common bond between its clients outside of their desire to improve business and exposure. So what are some practical promotional items that are most likely to be used by a variety of design clients? Does anyone here have any positive or negative experiences with promotional products that they'd like to share?
Companies have been branding this way for so long that I must assume that it works,
However, I think the product must be qualitative an in constant use, hoever, its a very passive for of advertisng so its probably not the best idea to blow ones advertising budget there :)
For companies with *some* computer-savvy: USB memory sticks -- With your name on them.
Most of those tend to run at $15-$20 per 256GB memory stick depending on the quantity you order, though. You hand someone a $1 customized coffee mug, there's a good chance it's getting used somewhere, and even if it doesn't you're only out a buck. I don't know how I feel about sending a client a $20 USB flash drive only to find out it's going to end up in the same box they store their Christmas decorations in.
I'm interested in knowing if anyone here has purchased promotional items for their clients, there was an older thread about how this is a good practice, but there were no specifics on what people found to be effective gifts.
I might be among very few but we do not charge for hosting the sites we develop. is that considered as promotional?
Not in the sense I'm talking about. People rarely think about their site's hosting plan, whether paid or free, even if they appreciate the fact that it's free. But if they have a clock sitting on their desk or a shelf in their office that they see on a daily basis, they're more likely to remember your firm if someone they know mentions that they're interested in getting a website.
