Are you receiving countless spam mails like me?

yes because i have had my email on the web for over 5 years and its been collected by spam bots all over. I need a quick way to delete all my inbox mail. Anyone have an idea? i use cpanel and have access to root.

If your account is hosted then the hosting company could probably tell you which files to delete.

I think this is not a feasible solution for us. It's been laborious to select-all-delete every 100 mails at a go...

Well, the best solution is to give up on this junk email address. Create three new addresses. A personal, business and a junk address. Dont mix them and use them for that specific purpose only. You would be a happy man without any junk mail...junk will go to the junk and then you can delete everything from that account once a month...like delete all mail. Problem fixed. Not sure if this will fit your needs but it works out very well for me.

My situation is:

I do possess multiple E-mail addresses for specific activities separately. One of my personal Lycos (the then Mailcity) address (created in 1996), where I have many important vendor's address stored and communicated for long, recently flooded with half a million 'SPAM' mails and everyday I receive 1000 odd crap mails from 'adult' sites. The situation is very annoying...
Despite the best of my customization and filtration effort in the C-panel, situation remains the same.

I'm confused. You seem to be talking about an online web-mail account. Are you using Lycos Mail? They have a 3GB allowance for the free accounts and more for paid. I don't understand where cPanel enters the equation.

If you have POP access to your account then just set up a Bayesian filter, train it a bit, and forget it. If this is a webmail account then the service vendor may have some options for you.

However, Web-mail was the issue by "duckxtales", creator of this thread and I have my situation across since my problem was similar to his.

i guess that would be the easiest way by just deleting the account and recreating it again, but what if I did not want to do this. What other solution is there just to clear the inbox mail? It would be too time consuming to do a delete all when u have 1000+ spam mail and each page only displays 100 at a time. I'm sure there has got to be a easy way as I would think this would be a common problem for us webmail users.

There may be a simple way to do this, but I'm not that familiar with Neomail. They do appear to have a mailing list [sourceforge.net] where you may be able to find some advice about this particular application.

I have endeavored for three hours to delete all spam mails from my Inbox... it is painful :(

If you are storing customer data in a free web mail account you are asking for trouble. If it gets hacked or they crash beyond a certain point, etc. you will loose that info because they will do little to nothing about it.

Consider free email accounts something that could be lost tomorrow!

Sure. There are plenty of reports of these free accounts being shut-down or lost all the time. You can't realistically depend on a free service like that...not if your livelihood depends on the contents of your mail.

However, I am really surprised to know that free web mail accounts can be lost at times.

By the way, I had a free account with Usa.net before it stopped offering paid service exclusively. I lost the said account in 1999.

Can the scenario be the same for the FREE ACCOUNTS where the accounts remain free?

I'm also searching for a way to delete all the mail from a gmail account. There are 24,000 mails in my inbox. I don't use these accounts as my primary accounts. I started using them as screens a couple of years ago to help defend against identity theft, some of my online accounts had been invaded by people using techniques i never fully learned but part of it was to use my user name to login and then click on 'forgot password' and then use the webmail versions of my accounts (i was using them as POP, e.g. adelphia, earthlink) and they would intercept the emails from paypal, real media, amazon and several others to change my password and then log in to my account.

[no, i never responded to any fishing schemes and can only speculate about how they got my user names, one of them was in Arkansas (i'm in CA) and after being arrested, the perp reported he got peoples' info from Limewire); another was in Arizona and while she was never caught, i discovered her identity with the help of detectives and a warrant has been issued)].

I found ways of using multiple gmail accounts to protect against this scheme. But i generally don't check those accounts so mail has built up. I would like to delete all the mail and can't do it page by page, it would take too long. Deleting and trying to recreate the accounts worries me, i want to keep those email addresses and don't want to risk not being able to get them back.

I was hoping to find a tip or technique for deleting all mail in the inbox rather than just one page at a time. I suppose with 24,000 mails, that might be too heavy for the system.

In Gmail that's pretty simple. Just make a new Filter that applies to all the messages and have the action be to Delete the messages. You can apply that filter to all your mail and it should delete everything in one go.
