I know that pop ups are frowned upon by most of the community but I'm still going to ask.

Can anyone point me toward pop up code that gets by the current browsers' built in pop up blockers? I have been to sites that get by the current version of Firefox's pop up blocker and I'd love to know how its done.

There are very few that get away with it; most only because of the browsers security settings being loose, or because your site is carrying scumware.

There's no guaranteed way of creating a scum site, except by using scumware - but even then, most decent human beings can use software to squash your worst intentions.

Repent; however sad your life is, there's no need to sell your soul to promote it.

Just build a better site. Easier, satisfying, your friends will still talk to you, and your kids won't spit at you.

Much better ;)

Some years ago I ran a site for a music promoter. Pop-ups were an excellent tool for highlighting important changes to previously published information when performers pulled out or venues changed at short notice. It is a shame that the scum sites abused them and brought them into disrepute.

These days with blockers so widespread I have no idea why people still use them. With blockers both in Firefox and in my firewall I have almost forgotten what they look like.

That reminds me, I have to rethink aspects of my site navigation. I went out of town recently and saw my site from a few different computers. A lot of basic functionality (e.g. image zoom) uses "popup" windows, which are getting blocked even though they are explicitly triggered by an onClick event.
