Now that the U.S. Congress has passed the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act (UIGEA) of 2006 on to the president for signature, webmasters in the United States who promote online gambling by linking end users to online casinos through traditional pre pay advertising or affiliate programs have some serious decisions to make:

- Should webmasters in the U.S. who own sites that promote online gambling continue to deliver advertisements to all locales, including the U.S.?

- Should webmasters in the U.S. sell their well established website properties that promote online gambling to companies overseas?

- Should webmasters in the U.S. who own sites that promote online gambling explore geo-targetting products and attempt to serve advertisements only to clients where online gambling is legal? If this is an option, are these webmasters still in violation of the UIGEA?

- Should webmasters in the U.S. shut down their sites that promote online gambling altogether?

The bill specifically defines the term 'bet or wager' as (in part): "any instruction or information pertaining to the establishment or movement of funds by the bettor or customer in, to, or from an account with the business of betting or wagering."

Does this clause target the promotion of online gambling or referral of traffic to an online casino?

For those of you webmasters and site operators in the U.S. who do own sites that promote online gambling, what are your plans to comply with this new law?

sorry I don't know the answers but look at it this way:
they wanted internet gambling crippled, and the wrote the law; no debates, no vote, no compromises, nothing. They got all they wanted so I fear the worst for your answers.

To get the answers to your questions, you and all those in this field will need to consult an attorney. That's exactly what I'm in the middle of doing now and I pretty much asked the exact same questions you outlined.
