I have a similar problem. The master volume control (not sure what you mean by the master volume control "for wave"... but in my case, it's THE master volume control that is affected) will go to zero on it's own. It will then resist being raised. It normally does this very shortly after boot-up, but sometimes takes longer.

The solution in my case is to close the Logitech mouse applet.

I've gone through multiple updates of the Logitech software, with no change, as well as posted on the Logitech support board with no response.

Note that I have both a Logitech cordless keyboard and mouse, and they did NOT come in a set. (MediaPlay mouse) Perhaps that is part of the problem. The mouse and keyboard both have volume control buttons.

If you double click on the volume icon you will open up a panel where you can control master volume, and master volumes for wave, line in, cd, et cetera. It's only my wave settings that change. AAAHH.

I got exactly the same problem, pixeltierra, and it's been going on for a few years I think. I've just resigned myself to accepting it and making sure the WAV volume is at the top before, say, I watch a movie. I'll keep a watchful eye on this thread though, hopefully some super techie genius will think of something.

Ready? This is how it went down. I was playing some mp3s with windows media player and I needed to turn down the volume. Only I thought I was using Real Player (both were open). When I turned down the volume slider on real player, lo and behold, my volume went down. Only then did I realize that Real Player wasn't playing anything, it was windows media player that was playing the music! How could this be?

I then opend my master volume window so I could see the Real Player and the master volume controls. I then moved the volume control slider on Real Player up and down and to my amazement, the master WAV control slider moved right along with it!

So the short version of the story is this: the Real Player volume slider is doesn't control it's own volume, but the master WAV volume! I suspect this might also be the case for other programs that use volume control, but haven't tried it out.

Please sticky me if you want to send me the money I deserve for solving this problem after 6 years of misery.
