Twitter has been testing its live audio rooms, "Spaces" and has now said it's releasing the test to a wider audience, including users of 600 followers or more. Spaces is a voice=based live audio conversation tool, very similar to "Clubhouse" which platform-based on iOS when it launched (although there is an Android version in the works). Twitter says eventually Spaces will be rolled out to everyone.
On Twitter for iOS and Android, when someone you follow starts or speaks in a Space, it’ll appear at the top of your timeline as a purple bubble for as long as it’s live. When you join a Space as a listener, you can react to what you hear with emojis, check out any pinned Tweets, follow along with captions, Tweet or DM the Space, or request to speak.
When you join a Space as a speaker, in addition to talking, you can pin Tweets to the Space, turn on captions so everyone can follow along with what you’re saying, and Tweet the Space so your followers can join.

Clubhouse's main problem seems to be that they didn't hire some competent Android developers early in the process to make the app device-independent. The big boys in the industry with a sizable user-base like Twitter and Facebook will now crush them like a steam roller i'm afraid.

I'm not sure this Twitter initiative will be eventual the leader in the market. Twitter is mainly a 1-to-many message system while Facebook much more relies on interaction between parties. The latter seems to be a better fit for this type of application.
