Twitter is testing a new prompt to which asks users to read an article before tweeting.
Sharing an article can spark conversation, so you may want to read it before you Tweet it.

To help promote informed discussion, we're testing a new prompt on Android –– when you Retweet an article that you haven't opened on Twitter, we may ask if you'd like to open it first.

I don't know about you, but i always read the article before tweeting it. However, you have to open the article on twitter for it to know, so if you have it open on another window it might no know. It's a sensible move, imho. I guess the idea is to help stop the blind tweeting by followers and to help encourage conversation.

Sounds more like a publisher move rather than a platform move.

Offers twitter the opportunity to vet the article before it is tweeted.

YMMV

Interesting point. How many times have you read the first two sentences of something and immediately decided Oh, I gotta tell so-and-so ... and then you read the rest of it and realize you might as well just email that one memorable sentence.

It's a good thing. I've seen lots of RTs which have been a disappointment when reading the article.
It got to the stage of me ignoring certain users.

Hello,

> Twitter Might Want You To Read The Article You RT

This is the end of RT, you can't expect most Twitter users to read something... joking.

Hello -again,

In the other hand, if Twitter users are pushed to visit the article they want to RT, it can bring more traffic to our sites.

There is the perverse side ... by asking the user might just tweet away!

We live in interesting times.

Let's see how much lesser misinformation spreads out there after this.
