I tried to use Twitter's election 2012 coverage hashtag, (#election2012) but it seemed to filter things too much --- I wanted see a live flurry of hundreds of thousands of tweets blur by faster than I could read them -- I wanted widgets and whirly-things -- something "exciting" -- even some colorful graphs would have been nice -- anything. But Twitter was
dull. Twitter did not "engage me".
According to Twitter themselves, the night was a record breaking success:
"31 million Tweets later, Election Day 2012 has come to a close. As the results of the election were called by news organizations, the conversation about the election on Twitter surged, hitting a peak of 327,452 Tweets per minute (TPM). Before President Obama took the stage to address the nation, he shared a special update on Twitter. As thousands of supporters cheered in Chicago, more than 455,000 (and counting) retweeted his celebratory message"

I watched the election streamed live on ABC news in one browser and kept Politco's live election map in another. Every once in a while I'd go see what was breaking in Google News and read some articles at WSJ, NYT, Boston Globe, LA Times and other credible news sources.
