Locations, via the Foursquare database can now be shown as part of your tweet, twitter said today.

You can choose to add a location to your Tweets using Twitter for Android, Twitter for iOS, twitter.com or other mobile applications. For example: To give additional location context to your Tweet, you can add a general location label such as “SoMa, San Francisco." In select locations, you may also label your Tweet with the name of a specific business, landmark, or other point of interest. These locations are provided by Foursquare. Since FourSquare killed their mobile check-in option and moved it to Swarm I wonder how up-to-date their crowdsourced information is.

Yes, I was a mad keen Foursquare business/locality creator and check-in user until "Swarm" arrived.

But I refused to d/l the app. For starters, I'm not a bee, I don't "swarm" anywhere. And the reviews on the App store were terrible, and continued to be for android for at least 6 months (an eternity in mobile app dev.), so I just couldn't see the point.

And why on earth would I want to, or be forced to use two apps where one used to do the job? IMO, Foursquare lost out to Facebook check-in from that point.

However, I always thought (even before the "Swarm" debacle), that Twitter and Foursquare would be a natural fit for each other, so I'll have another look, but I'm not holding my breathe.
