Hi All,

I'm working on my new website, and I have a few questions about the Headers (<h/1/2/3>)
please see the attached image, I create a mock-up for you, please tell me which H I have to put on the title - my mockup: [imgur.com...]
(** most of the articles will be without sub-titles so...it will be dynamic, but try to take a look on the "sidebar" and "menu link".

Likely your link will be removed, not just because you are new, but it is to a personal site.

That said, we have many conversations re H1 etc on this site.

In general, there is one H1 per page (or if you are fully HTML5) per Section or Caption.

Think of H1 as the TITLE of your page (product, info query, etc)
H2 and more are sub sections of H1

PAGE (document)
H1 Mary and Her Lambs
H2 Herding Lambs
H3 Crook and Shank
H3 Little Lost Lamb Who Can't Find His Way
H3 Big Bad Wolves
H4 Killing Big Bad Wolves
H2 Lamb Manure
H3 Garden Benefits
H2 Lambs for Dinner
H3 Roasted
H3 Baked
H3 Stew

The above assumes you want to put this on ONE PAGE.

But most websites are One Topic Per Page, so the Twelve listed above would be Twelve Different Pages with Each of those Titles as an H1

Reality, if you are an ecommerce site, you will never see anything other than H1 on ANY PAGE because that is the PRODUCT and all else is a description.

Don't over think this, unless you are an INFO site, in which case EMBRACE all the above.

tangor has written a superb answer! ... pretty much definitive i'd say.

there should just be one h1, which should be the main title.
