Hi Everyone,

I own two domains: example.com and example.ca. Before launching the sites I set .com as a domain pointer to .ca. I want .ca to be the main domain. I (stupidly) thought a domain pointer was a 301.

Five days ago I launched the sites, and immediately started getting links from good sources to point to my .ca domain.

Today I notice that when I Google my business name, the .com shows up, but not the .ca. When I saw this it immediately dawned on me that clearly a domain pointer does not work the same as a 301, and I assume Google is now penalizing my .ca as being duplicate content of my .com. Arh!

This is obliviously not how I wanted to get started. I immediately corrected my .com to use a real 301 to .ca

Questions:
1) Do you think my .ca is indeed being penalized? When I Google the domain name I see all the sites linking to it, but it doesn't exist.

2) Should I submit a Request Reconsideration? Or should I leave Google to naturally figure it out?

3) Assuming I am being penalized, what sort of ongoing impact (if any) can I expect?
