It's not identified as an ad, and it's right there in the mail navigation, though it would certainly have to be an ad with that kind of text. Out of curiosity I clicked it. I got not one but *two* new windows. Each window unceremoniously resized itself to the *full-width* of my monitor (all 20" of it). The ad itself was a fake news article for the "Google Profit System", some get-rich-quick scheme with Adsense, though not identified as such. It was pretty offensive, because the whole thing is designed to look like a real newspaper article, with a fake masthead, fake reporter's picture, fake article written like a news story, and the coup d' grace, fake "Comments" posted by fake readers about how easy it was and how much money they made. The nice final touch was when I tried to close this piece of trash, I got a huge JavaScript alert 'warning' me about leaving the page and trying to trick me into staying -- on each of the two windows I closed.
I remember when I used to admire Yahoo. But after this, they deserve to be beaten (by their competitors).
Today in my Yahoo account in the same spot is says "(1) New challenge", as though it's a new message or something. There's absolutely nothing to identify it as an ad.
Yahoo has certainly gone downhill.
I watched a documentary on CBC this wek about Yahoo and how they sell every little tidbit of information that they can collect from you when you on their pages, they track your browsing behaviour and sell any trends they detect to corporations so that those companies can better, more precisely market their products to you, through Yahoo of course. The adds that you are getting can vary significantly from the ones your neighbours are getting. They track your kids too. They find out the size of your family, where you live, what type of stuff you like etc.
Bad Yahoo. Once you were a decent search engine now your almost as bad a Google.
