A competitor has stolen pictures from my site, but they are still hosted on my site. what an idiot!

I was initially going to change th epictures to advertise my site so instead of a product picture it woudl have "find this cheaper at www....." or somethign similiar.

But then i got thinking...............

He is number 2 on google page 1, i was no 6/7/8 on page 1 for past 6 months.

Recently i have jumped up to no 4.

His source code has my url all over it because the pictures make up quite a lot of his site.

DO you think this has boosted my site? Are there seo benefits for me from him having my url in his code?

i can almost guarantee that he has helped you out.

if he/she was smarter he would have saved the images and put them in his file directory.

he is basically promoting your site via <img src...>

imagine if google had a section of their domain that was the same topic as your website, and they linked to your images...

you know what i would do....

change the images they are linking to, to something crazy... like a pair of @ss cheeks or something..

and rename your images ...

that would be hilarioius...

that would be hilarioius...

Picked up quickly though. I would brand my images with watermarks. Or, just be happy with the SEO boost (as long as its not affecting your bandwidth provisions oo much)

true... keep an eye on that bandwidth... if they are getting alot of traffic, plus yours, if that bandwidth gets eaten up, im pretty sure your hosting co. can shut off your site...

take a look at your monthly allowed usage and just make sure you arent creeping closer... becuase as more traffic increases, you may have to up your allowed maximum.

bandwith has gone up

im running at 4-5gb a month now but my package allows me unlimited bw.

I have a bit of an update today........... the stealer has now dropped from no 2 to no5 on page1. he was no2 for years.

i have now moved from no5 to no 3.

this is just since today so not sure if it will be permanent.

is it too good to be true that my competitor has boosted me above him by stealing my images and bandwidth?

well if he drop the url to your images, then it may have an effect.

also, i have seen changes in SERPS happen like that locally, but across all servers, i was still in my old position.

i was #1 locally once, but asked people here to query my keyword and i was still #3... so.. however you want to take it.

i would work on some backlinks while you are still up there, so if this person drops your images, you have some back up to counteract those links...
