301 redirect without server access

Need to create a 301 for canonical issues, but don't have access to IIS

I am trying to remove the canonical issues we have on our clients site. The SEO company told us to force everything to www versus non-www to avoid the mirrored sites for Google.

It would seem easy enough if we had access to our .htaccess file, but we do not. We are on a shared hosting plan and don't have server access. Also, all the files on the server currently are HTM.

PLease help me figure out how to do this. I need Google to only see the www version of the site with a 301 redirect. Thank you in advance.

Don't you have a "Control Panel" on this set-up?

If not, it's time to look for a "real" Web hosting company...

Note: In general parlance, .htaccess files apply to Apache servers, and not to IIS. So one normally uses a control panel on IIS to do the kinds of things that are done with .htaccess on Apache servers. In some cases, Webmasters must also use a control panel on Apache, so it depends on the host.
