I am based in Phuket, Thailand and am in the process of setting up a new company, before i go ahead with having a website created I have several questions:

Q1: as my company is based in Thailand,is a better to go with a .com or the new .asia?
If i register the same domian name followed by .com and also follwed by .asia which will be more search engine friendly?

Q2: Is a shorter domian name better-easyier for people to remember, or a longer domain name that includes Thailand as part of the domain name a better choice with regards to search engines?

Q3: Some people advise me to put a hyphen between each word, others sugest to put all words toghter with out any hyphens. Does any know what is best with regards to search engines?

Thank you for your help

here are some pointers when choosing a domain name:

1. short is good (hyphen it if the name you want is already taken!).
2. generic is best, if you are thinking of selling it later.
3. generic + geo (location) can be valuable if you are also promoting the location of your business.
4. words that users will generally type in to search for your product or service can be helpful.
5. google the words you think you would type and see if you can find your competitors in the search results! What are their domain names?
6. dot Asia is definitely on a surge - Asia has the largest internet user base on the planet! Dot Com domains are all but taken, there's still time to grab a dot Asia one if your business is niche. You can also try the resale market - when the prices are still low.
7. If your company has the same name, that's a plus in marketing terms.

Hope that helps.

IMO, .asia would do better for your business but since your going to use that, you might as well drop the "Thailand" or any country within Asia in your URL. It would get redundant (since everyone knows Thailand is in Asia) and the URL would be longer.
