The guys upstairs decided they wanted to create one, California targeted landing page (with a separate domain) to try and get it to rank organically and also run a PPC campaign for this page. It'll act as its own one page website. Basically, it will have a sales pitch in the content and have a drop down list that will provide options the user can click on to be directed to the relevant page of our corporate site.
My first question is if we wanted this specific page to rank for several california terms is it even possible to get this type of page to organically rank, long term? If at all? And if it's possible what do you think the time frame would be to start seeing results?
Secondly, would this type of page that doesnt automatically redirect to our corporate site be considered a splash page, doorway page or just a landing page? Or are all of these one in the same? What do you look for to make this determination?
Thank you in advance for your help!
So it needs its own marketing, its own seo ... rather than share the benefits of the main site, as a single on-site page would.
Can't see the point, myself, either for SEO or for visitor value.
But that's suits for you. No common sense at all.
And as Q implied, it's probably best to put your energies into optimizing the current CA pages and leveraging the existing strengths of the main site.
I completely agree on working with the CA pages we already have, unfortunately this is a call above me.
Since this is a doorway page, will this hurt the corporate website at all, assuming that there aren't spammy tactics on the page?
