Can't upgrade, won't upgrade: Windows Mobile's user problem

Microsoft’s dream of a smooth transition to Windows 10 Mobile needs a reality check. Figures from AdDuplex, which samples devices actually in use, finds that much of today’s active Windows Phone user base won’t be able to make the update.
A three-year-old device, the Lumia 520, is today the most popular Windows Phone in use, according to the agency. Six out of the 10 most popular Windows Phones are two years old.
The single digit market share isn't helping things. I know only one person with a Windows phone and he seems to love it. The operating systems isn't the issue, but rather the market perception of the phones. Stories like this won't instill much more confidence in potential customers.

All true, bill! I know two with Win Phones, and one of them ditched his iPhone after trying one out a year ago. But if there's a difficulty in the future.... well, there's always that "if it ain't broke don't fix it" paradigm, too.
