Taking a leaf out of Microsoft's book, Google is to stop updating the default browser in Android Jelly Bean in a move to encourage users to update their systems.
Jelly Bean is not that old, so some users it might smart a little. I guess there are other browsers to choose from, including chrome.
I do remember having one of the very early smartphones which was perfectly usable, until the android upgrade. Once upgraded it became as useful as an ashtray on a motorbike!
Perhaps the reluctance to upgrade is also down to a fear. When upgrades take place a lot of the settings end up trashed.
The new policy applies to the default browser in Android version 4.3, released in mid-2013 and known as Jelly Bean, and earlier. That covers roughly two-thirds of the billion-plus Android devices in use, according to Google, but some users may have updated their browsers to newer versions.
