For those that haven't tried it yet, just got mine, and it's an amazing device.

Compared to the other 7" Android tablets out there I've used, like the B&N Nook I own and a Kindle Fire, it's much slicker and way faster. This thing comes with a quad core processor and it literally jumps the split second on you touch it. Seems much more responsive than the Nook or Fire does. The video is great and streaming video is very smooth.

The box it came in was small and I was wondering what in the heck could be in it. The packaging was very snug and tight, a bit of a challenge to get opened but not too much trouble.

When I powered it up it came on and was on the Wifi network and fully operational in just a few minutes without incident. The thing that pleasantly surprised me was it was already linked to my account so when I first turned it on it said "Hello IncrediBILL!". Nice touch. I'm more familiar with the Android user interface on my phone than those custom skins on the Nook or Fire so the learning curve was very low on the Nexus as most things were where I expected them to be.

I was also surprised there was a new OS update already available with new features as it upgraded itself to Jelly Bean 4.1.1. right out of the box. That's what I think I'll like most about having a Nexus vs. the Nook, which is the same issue I have with my Android phone, is that it runs pure Android. The latest releases are available almost immediately vs. my phone which hasn't been upgraded in ages and the Nook which is off on it's own update tangent.

The Nexus built in speakers are quite loud and amazing for such a thin device. It definitely cranks out more volume than my Nook does and completely blows my netbook's speakers away.

My only complaints so far are the location of the headphone jack and USB cord is stupidly located on the bottom when it's in portrait mode. Basically you can forget charging, using headphones, or having the USB plugged in to synch when it's in a stand in portrait mode. It's definitely designed to be used in landscape mode when headphones are attached, like it's only useful when used as a video player. Yet it powers up in portrait mode and most things are in portrait orientation. I can live with it and I'm already used to it as Nook has the same annoying quirk and it's not a big issue when handheld vs. using a stand. However, I wish someone would move those stupid ports to a more reasonable location.

Yeah, yeah, I know, Bluetooth headset...

Used Chrome to go surfing all my usual sites and everything seemed to work just fine, including WebmasterWorld. :)

I'd say that the tablet is here to stay and websites that don't address them are going to find themselves in a world of hurt as tablets become more powerful, more capable, and more widely adopted as this unit may replace my netbook which replaced my laptop, it's inevitable.

Heck, I even have a Telnet client on the tablet and I can even manage my servers from the Nexus just like I do from my cell phone.

Off to buy a bluetooth headset, keyboard and rotating case ... TTFN!
