The new collaboration features look interesting: Real-time co-authoring. That's going to be helpful when taking notes, collaborating on and making presentations, etc. It makes remote working much easier.

Installed with no problems. Didn't even need a Restart, can you believe that? I ain't going for it, I'm Restarting anyway.

Update: After Restart, opened Outlook 2016 and all of my email account folder names have been converted to lower case e.g. ABC is now abc. I can't find a way to change them back either. When viewing Account Properties, they are properly cased. It's the Outlook email account folder names that you can't change case on. ARGH - I AM A PROPER CASE FANATIC!

My logs are now full of attempts to download my pages using M$ Office/Outlook and its related UAs.

This used to happen on average several times a month from users at work but now with the 30 day free trial bundled in Windows10, I see it 5 to 10 times a day, every day.

Microsoft Office 2016: Lots of upgrade questions and some answers [zdnet.com]

It turns out that not everyone has been able to upgrade to the latest release this week, in spite of Microsoft declaring the suite generally available. Instead, as many have discovered, the Office 2016 rollout is a staggered one, and one which has resulted in some OneDrive, Skype for Business and other app and service installation and compatibility issues.

While Microsoft officials did say a week ago that the company would be moving to a servicing/branch model with Office 2016 similar to the one the Windows 10 team is using, details on exactly how that would play out for Office users were scarce. But thanks to a find from the SuperSite for Windows folks -- plus a few other Microsoft pages and KB articles -- we now know more.

For my own personal usage, I could never work out why I would pay MS$ the sum of AU$89.00 incl. GST per year when I have Apache OpenOffice 4.1.1 for free.

OpenOffice has always filled my casual needs.

@IanCP - try using OpenOffice for specific work duties like translation services, DTP or any serious statistical or reporting work. OpenOffice is either not supported, breaks the files, or simply darn frustrating to work with. So there are more than one reasons why MS Office is a good fit for many companies. If you are an SMB or working at home professional - sure OpenOffice is perfect, but that does not mean its good in general.

The more frequntly updated fork of Open Office called Libre Office [libreoffice.org]? current version is 5.0.2.2 now if that matters <G>
