Personally I love Windows 7 and I've adopted using Bing regularly to the point that for certain things I use Bing first.

Microsoft might move a little slow for some but they seem to get the job done.

Yes, Bing is nice, I usually use it alternating with Blekko.

However, there is an article at TechCrunch "Microsoft Runs Basically The Worst Internet Startup Ever. 1 Year, Over $2 Billion In Losses" makes me worry a little about Bing's future. Just hope it's not all Bing's fault.

Bing is great I've used it for almost 12 months now, windows 7 is great as well, if they nail the phone they'll have it full circle and be more on top of their stuff then anyone else.

Don't listen to blog talk, most "tech" blogs are very bias and like to slam MS. MS knows what they are doing, just because they aren't hip and fashionable doesn't mean they are going anywhere anytime soon, no matter how many geeky bloggers tell you otherwise.

I agree with J_Rad, most blog talk is all hat no cattle, just hate for the sake of hating. It should be pretty amazing that 3 tech giants are doing better than ever in a tough economy and it should prove how stable MS is as a company to be able to take risks and still reap reward. The stock isn't moving much but as a dividend stock, it pays well :)

If w7 phone is anything like w7 OS, shoot slam dunk guys, they just nailed OS/phone/search (next stop cloud)

They knocked it out in short order too! IMO they have totally left goog in the dust. The eggheads are prob still trying to figure out how their chrome OS fits in with their junky apps and disconnected product line.

Yes, Win 7 rules! The only issue I have is that some of the software we use at the office does not work with the 64 bit version. In particular our accounting software.

are you using your win XP VM for that application?

I think Win 7 sucks, no wonder why so many users from consumer and corporate still using Win XP SP3 (still supported). Some are slowly moving to Win 7 because they don't have a choice, others are weighting their options - especially after what happened with Vista.

2 Major issues comes to mind with Win 7:
- Hardware upgrades to use the OS
- Lost productivity due to many birds and whistles (trying to copy OSX) to do daily tasks.

Not sure about the phone, but it's a tough market out there. Unless there is an absolute major differentiator that appeals to consumers (i.e. iPhone) or corporate (RIM BB) it's difficult to see a reason to adopt or switch.

I wouldn't mind QNX and I don't have a favorite OS. I just use whatever works best for purpose.

My initial point is; Windows is loosing the OS battle with Vista and Win 7. They need to go back to the drawing board and design a stable, functional and practical OS with less UI bloat.

If they don't have better OS to offer, people will stick with XP until supports runs out in 2014 or slowly move to an alternative (this data won't be on Net Apps) and it's just my opinion.

MS don't make as much in OS as they did considering overheads. Compare the price of XP/Vista/W7 upgrades and you will get what I mean.

Agreed. Altough I think stats on new machines sold with W7 VS upgrades from XP to W7 (including number of XPs out there) would be more telling on adoption rate.

Maybe in your household, but certainly not according to the stats Fotiman referenced, or any reports I've read.

Huh? You blame people for getting Win7 because they have no other choice? XP works on the hardware it was designed for. A lot of PCs have been sold over the last 9 years that XP has been offered. Sure there are a lot of copies out there, but how many people actually upgrade their OS? Very few I can assure you.

If the hardware can handle it I upgrade my XP machines to 7. If not, I leave them on XP. How does that skew your adoption rate theory?

At this point in its sales cycle more people are clearly adopting Windows 7 faster than any other MS OS in history. If you're not one of them feel free to use another OS, but that doesn't make Win 7 a failure.

XP is fine for old hardware, but it isn't being sold anymore. Soon it will no longer be supported. It's being phased out. Enjoy it while you can.
