Microsoft has reiterated that people should not install Windows 10 Creators Update manually unless you're an advanced user. Clearly, people are eager to get their hands on the update, and they may not be what Microsoft describes as an advanced user. If users don't meet that criterion, Microsoft says you should wait until it becomes available automatically.

That's not quite exactly what the blog reports. It's about MS blocking certain devices for which either the OS or device is not ready and users making the mistake of downloading Creators and installing before that is worked will by-pass all those blocks. The takeaway is:

Therefore, we continue to recommend (unless you’re an advanced user who is prepared to work through some issues) that you wait until the Windows 10 Creators Update is automatically offered to you. When your device becomes eligible for the Creators Update rollout, you’ll be prompted to make some important choices on your privacy settings before the Creators Update can install.

Agreed, but it's the takeaway I picked up on: Unless you're an experienced user, you won't want to install Windows 10 Creators Update. It'll be a waste of time if you can't work your way around.

100% on that. The recommendation is to wait for the regular update rollout ... only eager beavers or those who like the bleeding edge of technology should try an install out of turn.

My Surface got it. Ready to install when I turned it on. No issues. Still waiting on my desktop.

I always play it safe and never do custom or early installs.
