Windows 8 and 10 Update May be Cutting Net Access For Users

According to reports, a Windows 8 and Windows 10 update may be affecting users and cutting their Net access.

I had a call from a friend earlier and they have lost all their Net access, but I don't know if their particular problem is this, or something else. It appears to be a problem which will not obtain an IP via DHCP.

The problem emerged last week, when BT and Plusnet in the UK admitted that computers running Microsoft's latest patches are losing network connectivity due to what appears to be a problem with their Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP) clients. It has happened in the US, just not recently. Myself and 4 clients had the same occur during a Win 10 update (back during the "free" period) which borked DHCP. This, according to what I read overseas, is much worse than what we experienced.

Oddly enough, on my side, two of the clients who had used MS products for a decade or longer finally threw up their hands and asked me to change them to Linux. They are currently happy campers (though one still maintains a graphics production machine in Windows)

OK, it seems my friend had exactly this problem. The solution was to roll back to the previous update and now everything is working fine. Unless the problem is fixed with the next update this won't go away, and is likely to recur.
I understand you cannot block an update from occurring and you have to stop all updates.
