What are the changes?

"...The storage limit for all free OneDrive accounts will become 5 GB. If you currently have a free account with a 15 GB storage limit, that limit will reduce to 5 GB. All new free accounts will have 5 GB storage. The 15 GB camera roll storage bonus will also be discontinued for free accounts..."

Does this mean if you have 10 or 15 gigs of images stored you'll lose them if you don't want to pay? Mind you, that's a lot of images.

I dunno Bill, I simply recycled an email I received from Microsoft this morning.

[EDIT] I run a 25 Kb script which banishes OneDrive from my Windows 10. Run again after updates.

Did the mail indicate that you would be able to keep your >5GB allowance? I don't use it either, but I like to know it's there just in case. I've kept a bit more than 5GB in there just to see what might happen.

This is the email sent to me mate...
Changes to OneDrive
We want to let you know about some upcoming changes to OneDrive. On 10/08/2016 [that's 10th August], the amount of storage that comes with OneDrive will change from 15 GB to 5 GB. We are also discontinuing the 15 GB camera roll bonus. You can learn more by taking a look at our FAQs - [support.office.com ].

There is no action you need to take, because your OneDrive account is currently below the new storage limits. Even though you aren't currently affected, we want to keep you updated on all important changes to OneDrive. If you'd like to check your account, you can visit the Storage page.- [onedrive.live.com ]

We realise these are big changes to a service you rely on. We want to apologise for any inconvenience that they may cause you. We've made a difficult decision, but it's one that will let us sustainably operate OneDrive into the future.

Thank you for using OneDrive.

I've personally been skeptical of third party off site storage for this very reason. Unilateral changes can have far reaching effects. Not only for privacy/business reasons, but whether it will be there in the future, much less change attributes while in use.

It's the risk taken with any free service, and i'm sure there are paid options that resolve the 15gb requirement.

Did you follow the instructions in the thread I linked to? If you had you would have received something like:
As you know, the amount of storage that comes with most OneDrive accounts is changing from 15 GB to 5 GB. You previously confirmed your desire to keep your 15 GB of free storage (and the 15 GB camera roll bonus if you have it).* As a result, your account will not be affected by these changes.

I still have 30GB on most of my accounts, and it doesn't look to be going away.
