Ed Bott doesn't think Microsoft will charge for Windows 10 even after the 1 year "free upgrade" period is up.

One of the most persistent questions I hear about Windows 10 involves what happens when the free upgrade offer ends. Is Microsoft going to start charging subscription fees? After a close look at the company's financials, I'm convinced the answer is an emphatic no.

Personally I think the long term game plan is for your OS to eventually reside on a cloud, maybe you will have a few Mb/Gb on Drive C: to access the cloud each day...

Provided you have kept up your subscription fees...

Everything for the moment is simply something along the way as a step to their game plan.

The PC broke the Big Iron model and those guys have been lusting to get it back. Not today, maybe not tomorrow, but soon.

Why do you think the cloud was invented? It wasn't for you (the user).
