That pre-installed adware on Lenovo machines has caused quite a lot of frustration and annoyance, and many security people incredulous that those involved didn't realise how serious this was. Or they weren't saying!

Microsoft's Windows Defender will help and remove the Superfish adware from the affected Lenovo machines.

Microsoft just took a major step towards rooting out the Superfish bug, which exposed Lenovo users to man-in-the-middle attacks. Researchers are reporting that Windows Defender, Microsoft's onboard anti-virus software, is now actively removing the Superfish software that came pre-installed on many Lenovo computers. Additionally, Windows Defender will reset any SSL certificates that were circumvented by Superfish, restoring the system to proper working order.Microsoft Updates Windows Defender To Remove Superfish [theverge.com]

Consider yourself lucky. ;) There were still a trickle of reports of Lenovo gear shipping with this installed well after the brouhaha in the press.
