Apple Appeals the EU $14 billion Tax Claim

Apple has decided to appeal the €13billion ($14bn) EU ruling for back tax, believing it has been singled out. [reuters.com...]

I'm not surprised it's going to fight that case as it's a awful lot of money for tax is doesn't see is due.

hehe, the oversight was leaving it so long before submitting the request for back taxes.

personally i think ireland (and luxembourg) should receive enormous fines (and a cut in subsidies) from the EU, the two countries have actually deprived other EU countries of very large tax revenues not just from apple but from many multinationals.

i don't think apple or starbucks or any of the other companies that have exploited this should be fined, the only way to stop this tax avoidance is to stop countries like ireland and luxembourg deliberately setting low taxation rates for their own (relatively) small gain at the cost of all the other EU countries loss.
