I am looking for software recommendations...
I am looking for something to allow file sharing between Linux (Kubuntu) machines and Android Phones. Ideally, It would operate over a local area network.

Up until now, I have been using KDE Connect and previously it worked flawlessly. Over the past couple of years (since moving to 20.04 LTS) it has become very flakey. Sometimes devices simply do not see each other, other times they do see each other but file transfers do not initiate or simply hang.

The ability to drag and drop from computer to computer and to have the sharing option on the phone is a very useful feature. Just looking for something more stable and reliable.

Dropbox? (It will use your LAN if you have "Enable LAN Sync" enabled in settings.)

KDE Connect works well for me (Manjaro so I will have a more recent version).

You could try Nitro share. I used to use it.

There are Android sftp clients and servers. You can use Dolphin to browser the phone from the desktop if you have an SFTP server running on the phone.

That may well be the solution. Dolphine is certainly my file browser of choice and I have already configured it for sharing files on my nas. Great suggestion.

w3dk, great suggestion on Dropbox also. I didn't realise they offered lan sync. Will need to look into it.

I use Dropbox. I've always been intrigued by webdav, but few seem to use it.

In the past I used Syncthing (compatible Windows, Linux, Android), nowadays I install SSHelper on my android devices and start the SSH service whenever I need to exchange files, either with rsync or SFTP apps.
