Looks like URLs have been made to look shorter as well. The http(s):// bit is hidden, along with the www subdomain. Clicking the address once will not reveal the full URL (but will copy it to the clipboard if you give the command), clicking it twice will (and also replace the lock icon with the favicon).

Yeah, the loss of the url eventually brings everything into an ecosystem you can't get away from.

Since I use *mobile* Chrome 90% of the time, still waiting for that to update to v69. Usually it follows 2 to 3 days after desktop.

And clicking on the document (webpage) displays just the domain again and starts the process over. But I'm not seeing any favicons in the URL bar. I haven't for a long time unless the security certs are extended.

I keep several tabs pinned so they're there when I launch. The display is a bit different than before, especially when you can compare them close together.

That was on desktop, and the favicon apparently doesn't appear for all sites (showing a globe icon instead), even when there's a favicon at the front of the tab title... so perhaps it's a different image they're using. Or maybe I'm misinterpreting, because I was just on the Microsoft forums and in front of the URL was the Google favicon? Color me confused.

My Android phone updated Chrome to 69 last night, with similar cosmetic changes, although none of the URL shortening there.

Haven't used the mobile Chrome much yet, but on desktop everything seems a bit snappier.

Again, it's been several years since I've seen a site's custom favicon in the address (URL) bar *unless* that website is using an Extended Security Certificate, examples: banks, Google, Microsoft...

So maybe we're saying the same thing.

Turns out it's not the favicon but an icon indicating the search engine powering the omnibox. If Chrome thinks what you're typing (or editing) is not a URL but a query, it'll show the Google (fav)icon (or Bing or DDG if you've set that up instead). Not sure why I saw it appear earlier when clicking a URL twice, can't replicate it now.

Most like the CSS Scroll Snap. Can be more flexible when choose pics.

Chrom69 is proving to bring more criticism for its users than before. The major concern for us all is the privacy is at stake with companies storing every data.
For users who do not take privacy as a much-hyped issue and are ok with their data being stored, Chrome69 is a thumbs-up.
