Google has said it'll be retiring its Chrome app launcher on Windows, Mac and Linux over the coming months, but it will remain unchanged on the Chrome OS.

Chrome apps are still accessed via the apps shortcut in the bookmarks, or through the apps search in the omnibox.

Beginning in a few weeks, Chrome will no longer enable the launcher when users first install a Chrome app. Anyone who currently has the launcher will receive a notice informing them that the launcher will be going away. In July, existing instances of the launcher will be removed. Google to Remove Chrome App Launcher on Windows, Mac, and Linux [blog.chromium.org]

I have mixed feelings on this. I don't use Chrome much. I do use several Chrome Apps. Having that extra Apps toolbar allowed me to use my primary browsers for browsing and just use the Chrome Apps on the side. I guess those apps will get less use after this change.
