Hello,

The available payment forms for my country in AdWords are: MasterCard, and debit cards with a MasterCard or Visa logo, American Express, JCB, Visa

So my question is: can I pay for my AdWords account using my Visa Electron card?

Just try it out. It will return an error if it's not valid. And really hard to tell if they support it or not - probably not as it's US based system... Who still live in the age of cheques and so on (at least on the Adsense side). :(

Most services and online CC account handling providers in the US take electron ..certainly all the biggies such as 2CO etc have accepted them since electron was introduced..

I would have tried it out if I owned a Visa Electron card!
The fact is that I don't have one ATM! I want to issue a new Visa Electron card and I want to know if I can use it to pay for my AW account.

Visa Electron is not accepted for online transactions. You'd better ask for Classic Visa or Mastercard.

Instead of asking this forum just pick up the phone and ask your bank if Visa Electron is suitable for Internet payments! As far as I know it isn't.

@wildbeast ..
So how come my visa electron is accepted everywhere for online payments worldwide including the USA and has been since the day it was issued?

This includes paying for goods , services , software ,servers , subscriptions ..the only thing I haven't actually used it for is buying adwords ( dont need to when you know how to do your SEO properly ) ..;-)

Please dont post misinformation in response to questions asked in fora ..

edited to re-anglize wildbeast's "nick" ..I put the "e" in first time around

I don't know.

What I know, however, I had troubles using my Visa Electron for online payments 2 years ago. Was told by several banks at that time, it is not suitable for online payments. My advice is avoid Visa Electron for online payments.

Had mine 5 years now ..only thing is there must always be enough in the account to cover purchases ..

I restrict my balance in that account to $10,000.oo and have never had any problems ..even when puchasing software from the states online at $8,000.oo a pop ..

authentification is done online through the same visa clearing centres as the classic cards ..only difference between electron and classic is that with electron the cash must all actually be sitting there ( presumably for subscriptions they check that they have 12 times the amount in there? )..it isn't a credit card ..

How Visa Electron Works
Visa Electron works like any Visa card except that each transaction must be electronically authorized. Complementing the Visa debit program, Visa Electron allows cardholders to make purchases at merchant locations with electronic authorization terminals and to access cash through the Visa Global ATM network of more than one million ATMs in over 160 countries. Acceptance for Internet transactions can be also supported, at the issuer’s discretion.

Electronic authorization, enabled by either a signature or personal identification number (PIN), is required for each transaction. With this authorization requirement, Visa Electron is ideal for customers with newer banking relationships or for those countries requiring 100 percent electronic authorization.

Acceptance for Internet transactions can be also supported, at the issuer's discretion.

so my bank trusts me ..whereas yours it appears doesn't trust you ( as it's at their discretion )..and prefers to tell you that it's the other guys ( the acceptees )fault ;-)..

if I were you I'd change banks ;-)

I've received a formal answer from 'Google AdWords Team' saying:
Thank you for your email. Please note that according to our paymentoptions, you should have no problem paying for your account using a VisaElectron card.

I've asked them the question on 09/28/06 and after about 3 weeks I got the answer! AdWords support rocks, doesn't it?!
