I got Google AdSense approval for my website a couple of months ago. Now, the issue I am facing is that majority of views on my website come from my subscribers who receive the link to my articles inside their email inboxes, and for some reason, the views of my desktop-based subscribers are not generating enough impressions who constitute the majority of my subscribers. In simple terms, the views of my desktop-based subscribers are not getting monetized.
Now, I have made sure that this is not because of ad-blockers. So, to make sure of that, I conducted an experiment. I created a Subreddit with zero participants/followers, and I created a post on that subreddit containing the link to my article. Inside the newsletter to my subscribers, I informed them that the link that they will click will take them to a Reddit post which will contain the link to my article that will take them to the actual article. Several of my subscribers actually took the pains to click twice to get to my website but quite a lot of them unsubscribed. And, when I checked my stats for that particular article, I saw that all the desktop-based views generated good number of impressions and were properly monetized. The difference was only that AdSense registered these desktop-based views as coming from 'Other' sources and not 'Direct'.
Now, as I stated before, this experiment resulted in a lot of my subscribers unsubscribing my website and many just ignored my post, so clearly this is not a sustainable way to conduct my website. However, with this experiment, it is clear that my desktop-based subscribers do not have ad-blockers enabled, because if they had, they wouldn't have seen advertisements on my website even if they came via Reddit, and no impressions would have been generated. However, it was specifically because they were routed via Reddit that their views were appropriately monetized, whereas upon directly clicking on the link inside their inbox, their views did not generate appropriate number of impressions.
Also important to note, is that the views from my mobile-based subscribers are generating almost double the number of impressions and are the most highly monetized amongst the views.
So, this is a big issue for me. My desktop-based subscribers are not generating any impressions and they are the majority chunk of my website's viewers. Often times, it happens that views from these desktop-based subscribers do generate good amount of impressions and some revenue as well but when I check again later on, there is a significant drop in the number of impressions as well the revenue generated from these views. But this does not happen with the views from my mobile-based subscribers or the mobile- and desktop-based views coming in from social media.
