Whats this talk about them only counting the first two ads on each page? I dont know if that's true.
If thats the case then theres no point in having more than two ads, and not much point in having any in the bottom half of the page

Thank you very much @ember

I had thought about it mate, waiting for January 2024, but I have decided that it is not worth it, it is all inconveniences, bad advertising-advertisers, hundreds of automatic ads fluttering, bad Adsense planning.

I did all kinds of experiments, none of them change anything, and you barely see the text of everything that is written, you only see ads even though the automatic ads load is at minimum.

For me it is no longer worth making money this way, little or much money gives me the feeling of deceiving people, I think my morals prevent me from doing so by placing hundreds of ads without rhyme or reason.

I hope that despite not being on Adsense anymore I can read that everyone is doing well, I will honestly be happy for all of you, I think you should allow people to earn an honest living and this was a great way to do it.

Best regards @ember I will follow the forum, in case I can help with any personal experience.

I'm waiting for phase two of this announcement: Ad Refresh will finally be allowed by AdSense. It's the only way I can see how a Publishers earnings would remain close to what they currently earn.

@ LucasPerez +1, same thoughts exactly.

About Adsense changes next year, this is what recently came to my mind: With click-based advertising, poorly made ads result low CTR and it's lost profit for Google (and publishers). So, G is going to start charging per impression and then if advertiser has a crappy designed or targeted ad, it's his problem - he still pays for the advertising. This should improve Google profitability and, ideally, publisher profitability too. But Google says, publisher should not expect to see change in revenue, so that just means Google will retain any additional profit. Perhaps, a bit too simplistic explanation, but fits the picture.

@Skips I don't doubt that G did it with the best of intentions, but the editors will always lose out.

I do not risk my sites by placing hundreds of ads for me of poor quality, with "download here" etc. for users to enter their data, this seems like a scam to me.

The income for publishers has been at its lowest for a year.

G and Adsense are not very good at giving information, they do not know how to explain correctly in any language.

I hope everything goes well for everyone.

I think that the positives will outweigh the negatives. Even if some of our websites revenue might go down a bit, we might get higher quality ads and overall better user experience.

And, we won't have to worry about our publisher accounts getting limited for false positive CTR violations that happened so much lately. It was all getting out of hand and this change might really help the industry.

Does anyone know if Google has released an update on this with more information?

Today's email for advertisers from Google, but also regarding changes and options in Q1 2024 for publishers
"
In Q1 2024, Google is launching support for programmatic bidding on inventory eligible for Limited ads. This new serving mode will allow for contextual programmatic demand when publishers are serving Limited Ads, and enables demand from Google Demand, Authorized Buyers, Open Bidders, & SDK Bidding.

If you decide to use this new serving mode, Google will make use of invalid traffic detection-only cookies & local storage regardless of the user consent signals passed with Limited ads requests. Accordingly, programmatic demand will be enabled (and an invalid traffic-only cookie & local storage used) when (1) there is no certified CMP present, (2) when the &LTD=1 flag is in the ad request, or (3) a user has declined consent for Purpose 1 of IAB Europe’s Transparency and Consent Framework (TCF), and the signal for all other lawful bases required for Limited Ads are present in the TC string.

This feature is optional because we recognize publishers are legally responsible for the tools they use and may have differing views on whether invalid traffic-only cookies and local storage should be subject to user consent. The invalid traffic-only cookie is required for this inventory because invalid traffic protection is a prerequisite for programmatic demand.

Publishers should work with their legal teams to understand whether to use this feature, taking into account relevant regulations and applicable regulator guidance. Publishers will need to determine for themselves whether the use of invalid traffic-only cookies & local storage on their own sites/ apps requires user consent, and therefore whether they should use this feature or not. Publishers that do not want to use invalid traffic-only cookies & local storage without user consent should opt-out of this feature.

@allhearts

Since I'm using CF, I'll probably opt out of that option. If Adsense reduces the amount of payment, by say more than 5% compared to the average earnings, then I will experiment. But we will see how it will work in 2024.

It's always useful to remember where we stand in the Google food chain.

Users
Advertisers
Government / Legal Issues
[this space intentionally left blank]
Webmasters
Publishers.

Since I haven't got anywhere with it, I'm below the publisher.;)

The amount of visits in December was the same as last month.

It is probably because I edited the content I have, so it is less. Two years so far.

Based on our tests, we don’t expect publishers to see a change in their earnings as a result of these updates.

not my experience so far

Just checked yesterday's & today's CPM bids, so far 100% CPM
A slight decrease in earnings... 20% decrease
